KATIE KUBITSKEY
Assistant to the Digital Composition Studio
Raised in the midwest, Katie Kubitskey is now happy to call Alaska her home. She earned her undergraduate degree in English from UAA and has returned to focus on the rhetoric of multimodality in her master's degree. When now skulking the halls of the English department, she can be seen twisting balloon animals, dancing the lindy hop, and playing with her bow and arrows at the nearest range. She has been with the DCS from its inception and cannot wait to help YOU with your next English project!
BRIANNA DYM
DCS Tutor
Brianna Dym ended up in Alaska by fleeing the heat and dryness of the Arizona desert, and is thrilled to be in a climate that supports her snowboarding hobby. Brianna is a senior undergraduate, and is only a short year away from graduating with a BA in English Education with a minor in creative writing. She hopes to continue her education with a Master's in English, but until that day arrives she is happy to pursue her pastimes of creative writing and web-comic design. When she isn't lost in a written world of her own creation, Brianna can be found helping out in the DCS or over at the Reading and Writing Center.
ANDREA MAGLINGER
DCS Tutor
Andrea is a transplant from Indiana who much prefers four feet of snow to 100 degree summers. She is an undergraduate studying music education. Andrea plays percussion, recorder, panpipe, cornet, piano, and a tiny bit of guitar. When she takes a break from her muscial studies she is often found writing fiction or poetry.
WILEY CASON
DCS Tutor
I am a junior majoring in Philosophy, just doing my best to stay alpha. I enjoy participating with UAA’s speech and debate program, winning board games, and playing rat race at Tudor Bingo. While you’re in the DCS however, my sole aim is to help you have a productive, perhaps even fun, learning experience. And though all students can expect to receive equal treatment from me in the lab, tips may help to make your treatment even more equal than everyone else’s. I believe eyes are the windows to the soul.
SHU-PING CHANG
DCS Tutor
I recently moved from Taiwan to the US. This is not the first time I've left home, but it is the first time that I've left my comfort zone. Life at UAA is an adventure, full of fresh new experiences, and I feel that there is much yet to explore. I have been interested in pop music for a long time. In fact, my friends describe me as a walking encyclopedia for that matter. I am excited about exploring new ways to create videos, music, and multimedia projects. My previous experience was to create educaiton materials with Flash and other computer programmers. I have the perserverance and passion to see the projects through, and I am sure that I can contribute to your English projects.
